Butch Miller is the father of head softball coach, Jay Miller. After a decorated playing career which included a .600 batting average his senior year and Ohio All-State accolades, Butch began to follow his passion. Coach Miller Sr has 38 years of coaching baseball and softball experience at the high school and elite travel ball levels. He began his coaching career as the head baseball coach at St. Charles Preparatory School in Columbus, Ohio.

Coach Butch was an assistant for the Lakehawks from 2015-2019 before returning to Lecanto HS as their Head Softball Coach. He retired from teaching after the 2021-22 school year and is back as a volunteer assistant coach, specializing in catchers and recruiting.

After successful stints at Notre Dame HS (Portsmouth, OH.) and Unioto HS (Chillicothe, OH.) coaching baseball, Coach Miller took over the Chillicothe High School softball program in 1999. Coach Butch took a program which had won three games in two seasons to back-to-back District Tournaments. 

Since moving to Florida in 2005, Coach Butch has been the head softball coach at Citrus High School in Inverness, FL and co-head coach at Lecanto High School in Lecanto, FL. It is at Lecanto HS where Coach Butch was named the 2014 State of Florida Assistant Coach of the Year. Along with his Assistant Coach of the Year award, he has also collected five District Coach of the Year Awards. Two in baseball and three in softball.

In the summer of 2017, Coach Butch was elected to his high school's Athletic Hall of Fame. He is now in the St. Charles HS Hall of Fame twice. Once as a member of the 1975 baseball team and now for his individual career.

He currently resides in Beverly Hills, Fla. with his wife Angela. They have three kids and 10 grandkids.
