Thomas Named Region 8 Softball Player of the Week
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Sophomore Sammi Thomas was named the Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Player of the Week for her performance in the week of Mar. 17-23. Thomas earns this honor for the first time in her career at Lake-Sumter.
For the week, Thomas went 9-for-15, hitting .600, with 11 runs scored, three doubles, four RBIs, four walks, and two stolen bases. Additionally, she reached base safely and scored in all seven games to help the Lakehawks extend their win streak to a program-first 14.
Thomas's top performance came against Pasco-Hernando State College where she went 7-for-10 for the series, including a 3-for-3 game two.
For the season, Thomas maintains a .345 batting average, .446 on base percentage, and .455 slugging percentage. She has 19 hits with 15 RBIs, 14 walks, and 23 runs scored.
