CLERMONT, Fla. (Softball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) softball extended their win streak to seven with a pair of wins against Illinois Valley Community College (IVCC) and Ellsworth Community College (ECC). Thursday's games were hosted at Legends Way Ballfields for the annual Spring Games tournament.
Game 1 – IVCC 1, Lake-Sumter 9 (5 innings)
Emma Christensen went 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Savannah Ellis and Emma Chisholm added two hits each.
Ellis, Macie Bourgholtzer, and Kaitlyn Duquette each recorded a pair of RBIs.
On the mound, Duquette recorded the complete-game win to improve to 5-2 on the season. She allowed just one run on two hits with eight strikeouts.
Game 2 – ECC 2, Lake-Sumter 10 (5 innings)
Malayla Miller went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and one run scored. Nicol Weking hit 3-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.
Chisholm recorded three RBIs on one hit. Sammi Thomas also added a pair of RBIs with one hit in the game.
Tossing a complete game, Ellis improved to 4-4 on the mound. She allowed two runs, one earned, on seven hits with four strikeouts.
The Lakehawks' seven consecutive wins is the highest win streak since the 2023 season when the team won eleven straight from Feb. 23 – Mar. 9.
