Chisholm Named Region 8 Softball Player of the Week
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Sophomore Emma Chisholm was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Player of the Week for her performance in the week of Jan. 27-Feb. 2. Chisholm earns this honor for the first time this season and the second time in her career at Lake-Sumter.
In four games last week, Chisholm went 10-for-14, batting .714, with five runs scored, four doubles, two homeruns, and six RBIs. Additionally, she recorded multi-hit games with at least one RBI in all four appearances.
In Tuesday's double header against Hillsborough Community College, she went 5-for-7. In game two against HCC, she hit her first homerun of the season and logged three RBIs.
Head Coach Jay Miller shared his thoughts on Chisholm's performance, "Emma has been working on her approach and really focused on the mental side of the game. She has always been extremely strong, but working with our outfield coach, JJ Lott, has her in a different head space this season and the early results are impressive."
So far this season, Chisholm is hitting .571 with a .609 on-base percentage and a 1.095 slugging percentage. She has 12 hits with five doubles and two homeruns.
Additionally, her two homeruns from last week put her in the No. 3 spot in the Lakehawk Softball record book for career homeruns with 15. She is now behind 2022-23 alum, Rocky Camuglia (17) and career homerun leader Bri Bennet (24) from 2016-17.
