SANFORD, Fla. (Softball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) softball traveled to Sanford, Fla. on Friday for a double header against Seminole State College (SSC). The Raiders defeated the Lakehawks to sweep the day 6-3 and 8-3.
Game 1 – LSSC 3, SSC 6
Seminole State took a 6-0 lead after the third inning.
The Lakehawks were shutout until the top of the sixth inning when a double from Emma Christensen scored two.
Emma Chisholm tried to keep the Lakehawks alive in the seventh, but the efforts were cut short at one run scored.
Chisholm went 3-for-3 with one RBI and one run scored. Christensen went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.
Sophomore pitchers Amy Bak and Kaitlyn Duquette split time on the mound.
Starting pitcher, Bak, recorded the loss for game one moving to 1-1 on the season. She allowed six runs on seven hits and three walks.
Duquette took the mound in the third inning and silenced the Raiders offense completely. In 3.2 innings of work, she allowed no runs and no hits with just one walk and four strikeouts.
Game 2 –LSSC 3, SSC 8
The Raiders carried their offensive charge into game two.
Lake-Sumter took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and SSC answered back with two. In the second, the Lakehawks tied the game and the Raiders answered with three more runs.
Seminole State put three more on the board in the third for an 8-2 lead. Lake-Sumter added one run in the fifth, but once again were unable to come back from the deficit.
Chisholm went 2-for-4 with one double and a solo homerun. Valeria Rolon went 2-for-3 with one walk.
Freshmen pitcher Kendall Rumer recorded the loss for game two with 2.0 innings pitched. She allowed five runs on five hits and two walks.
Savannah Ellis took the mound in the third inning. She allowed three runs, only one earned, on four hits and one walk.
Danika Jones joined the Lakehawk effort on the mound. She tossed one complete inning and logged two strikeouts.
The Lakehawks move to a 2-4 record on the season.

Lakehawk softball will be back on the road Tuesday, Feb. 4 for a double header at Daytona State College at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
