No. 15 Lakehawk Softball Drops Double Header to Eastern Florida

LEESBURG, Fla. (Softball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) softball hosted Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) on Thursday afternoon. Eastern Florida took both games of the double header, 15-2 and 9-1.

Game One – Lake-Sumter 2, Eastern Florida 15

Eastern Florida took an 11-0 lead right away, scoring four in the first inning and seven in the second. The Titans added three more in the fourth and fifth innings.

The Lakehawks tried to battle back to keep the game alive, but could only manufacture two runs in the bottom of the fifth, the game resulting in a mercy rule.

Lake-Sumter had seven hits as a team. Savannah Ellis and Jordyn Anderson recorded two hits and an RBI each.

Freshman Amy Bak recorded the loss on the mound with 3.1 innings pitched. Bak allowed 10 runs on eights with one strikeout.

Game Two – Lake-Sumter 1, Eastern Florida 9

Lake-Sumter took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning before EFSC tied it up at 1-1 in the top of the second.

The Lakehawks were able to hold off the Titan offense until the fourth. Eastern Florida tacked on eight runs in the final three innings extending to an eight run a lead that Lake-Sumter could not overcome.

The Lakehawks' two hits in game two came from Emma Chisholm and Payton Parkes.

Kaitlyn Duquette recorded the loss on the mound with 4.0 innings pitched, allowing three runs on three hits and three walks.

The Lakehawks still looking for their first win, move to 0-4, while the Titans improved to 4-0. Lake-Sumter and Eastern Florida will meet again this season for a double header on Thursday, February 15.

The Lakehawks will host Seminole State College at The Hawks Nest on Friday, February 2 for a double header at 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
