RV Lakehawk Softball Splits with Pasco-Hernando
LEESBURG, Fla. (Softball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) softball team hosted Sun-Lakes Conference opponent Pasco-Hernando State College (PHSC) on Tuesday afternoon for a double header. The Lakehawks fell to the Bobcats in game one 2-6 before rallying back in a close second game in extra innings, 3-2.
Game One – Lake-Sumter 2, Pasco-Hernando 6
The Lakehawks started off slower than normal in game one after Pasco-Hernando took a 4-0 lead after three innings.
Lake-Sumter tried to chip away at the lead. With two runners on, Alexis Adams singled down the first base line to score Desiree Romeo in the bottom of the third.
In the bottom of the fourth, Tatum McGrath reached on a bunt. McGrath then managed to score after capitalizing on a Bobcat error and a single up the middle by Romeo.
The Bobcats added on two more runs in the top of the seventh to seal the 6-2 victory in game one. The Lakehawks were unable to rally back.
Romeo was 2-for-2 with a walk, one run scored, and an RBI. Adams went 2-for-4 with an RBI.
Darian Pippin recorded the loss for game one with seven innings pitched to move to 12-6 on year. Pippin allowed six runs on 11 hits with five strikeouts.
Game Two – Lake-Sumter 3, Pasco-Hernando 2
In an exciting back-and-forth game two, the Lakehawks defeated Pasco-Hernando for the third time this season 3-2 in extra innings.
Lake-Sumter scored first in the bottom of the first inning after Romeo reached on an error by the Bobcat defense. Raquel Camuglia came in clutch with a double off the centerfield fence to score Romeo from second.
PHSC tied the game up at 1-1 in the third inning after a pair of doubles.
The game did not stay tied long as Adams stepped up with a solo shot out of left field, her seventh of the season.
In their last chance at bat, Pasco-Hernando tied the game once again in the top of the seventh inning.
In extra innings, Reese Snipes hit a hard ground ball in the hole to shortstop forcing an error allowing Molly Bender to score from third to win the game.
Ali Shenefield recorded the complete-game win on the mound improving to 14-1 on the year. In eight innings, Shenefield allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits with six strikeouts.
In both Sun-Lakes Conference matchups, Lake-Sumter went 3-1 against Pasco-Hernando to take the series for the season. Lake-Sumter improved to 35-15 overall and 7-3 in conference play while Pasco-Hernando moves to 22-12 overall, 4-6 in conference play.

The Lakehawks will travel to Jacksonville next Tuesday, April 18 for a double header with Sun-Lakes Conference opponent Florida State College at Jacksonville at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m.
