TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Sophomores Raquel Camuglia and Darian Pippin were named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Player and Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday morning. Pippin earns the honor for the third time this season, while Camgulia is being named for the first time.
Raquel Camuglia – Player of the Week
In six games, Camuglia hit .667 (12-for-18) with seven runs scored, two doubles, one triple and three homeruns. She added eight RBIs, two walks, one stolen base and threw out three runners from behind the plate.
Camuglia's best stats came from the double header against Oakland Community College where she went 5-for-6 with three RBIs and a homerun.
The Spring Hill, Fla. native is hitting .417 on the season with 35 hits, four doubles, three triples, and three homeruns. She has 24 RBI and nine walks while also currently maintaining a nine-game hit streak.
Darian Pippin – Pitcher of the Week
Pippin made three appearances in the circle last week for Lakehawks going 2-0 with a save.
Against Oakland Community College, she threw a complete game allowing just two runs on four hits with a career-high of nine strikeouts.
Pippin entered in relief against Jackson College. She recorded the save with two innings pitched, striking out two.
Pippin threw a complete game shutout, her second of the season, against Lincoln Land Community College. The Mount Dora, Fla. native gave up four hits while recording three strikeouts.
For the season, Pippin has pitched 59.0 innings. She currently has a 7-3 record with a 2.02 ERA and 40 strikeouts.
