Shenefield Named Region 8 Softball Pitcher of the Week

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Sophomore pitcher Ali Shenefield was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second time on Tuesday morning.

Shenefield went 2-0 last week in two appearances on the mound. She pitched eight innings allowing just two runs on five hits and no walks, while fanning nine.

The Brooksville, Fla. native pitched a complete game against Daytona State. She held the Falcons to just two runs on five hits, while giving up no walks and striking out seven.

Shenefield entered game two of the Polk State double header later in the week in the eighth inning. With a runner on second base for the Texas Tiebreaker, Shenefield forced the Eagles lead off to pop up a sac bunt and then struck out their final two batters.

She recorded her second win of the week after the Lakehawks scored in the bottom half of the inning.

For the season, Shenefield is 8-0 with 48 strikeouts and a 1.32 ERA. She is also currently leading Region 8 Division II softball in ERA, wins and strikeouts

Up next for the Lakehawks

Shenefield and the Lakehawks will host Lincoln Land Community College on Friday, March 3 for a double header at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
