NFCA StrikeOut Cancer Game on Deck

NFCA StrikeOut Cancer Game on Deck

Leesburg, Fla. – The Lake-Sumter State Softball team will be hosting their Breast Cancer Awareness Game this Saturday against Miami Dade College.

Prior to the beginning of game one, LSSC will have a special guest throwing out the first pitch. Delia Diaz-Montero has recently gone through a breast cancer diagnoses, surgery and is currently pushing through chemotherapy treatments. She is also the mother of second baseman, Jeritza Montero.

The event is affiliated with the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) initiative called StrikeOut Cancer. The team will be taking donations throughout the day as well as raffling off a custom-made breast cancer awareness home plate, with 100% of proceeds going directly to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the highest rated breast cancer organization in the U.S. The raffle winner will be announced between games one and two of the double-header.

The Lakehawks will be decked out in pink while fans are asked to please wear pink in support of breast cancer research.

Game one begins at noon on Saturday in Leesburg.
