Johnson and Kolwicz Tabbed All-Region

Johnson and Kolwicz Tabbed All-Region

Leesburg, Fla. – After five All-Conference selections, two members of the Lake-Sumter State College softball team earned All-Region status.

Morgan Johnson – Second Team, Outfield

Selected as a top four outfielder in the Mid-Florida Conference, Johnson was named one of the best at her position in the state. The freshman boasted an outstanding rookie campaign ranking top 10 in the country in hits most of the season. Johnson ended with, a team leading, .411 batting with 60 hits and 34 runs scored. The Spring Hill native hit a whopping .489 with runners in scoring position and finished with 22 stolen bases.

Emily Kolwicz – Second Team, At-Large

Only four spots are available for All-Region selections as the at-large position in the state. Kolwicz embodies everything you think of as a utility player. As a freshman, she started all 32 games in left field. This year, Kolwicz started games at all three outfield positions as well as third base and even one game at second base, sometimes changing positions throughout the game. While moving all over the field, the sophomore maintained a .353 batting average and committed just five errors in 50 games.
