Ryan Welsh joined the Lake-Sumter baseball team as the Pitching Coach prior to the 2023 season. Welsh, a native of Windermere, Fla., played at NCAA Division II Sunshine State Conference member Florida Southern College, before graduating in 2020 from UCF with a degree in Entertainment Management. Welsh played high school baseball at West Orange High School and Dr. Phillips High School, and travel ball for the Orlando Scorpions.

Before joining the coaching staff at Lake-Sumter, Welsh spent a year as an Assistant Coach at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Prior to that, Welsh spent two seasons as the Varsity Pitching Coach at his Alma Mater West Orange High School.

This past Summer, Welsh was the Head Coach for the Winter Park Bulldogs, leading his team to a Florida Collegiate Summer League DII championship.
