PREVIEW: Lakehawk Baseball vs No. 3 St. Johns River State
LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball continues Sun-Lakes Conference play this weekend with a three-game series against the reigning conference champions No. 3 St. Johns River State College (SJRSC).
The Lakehawks will travel to Palatka, Fla. on Friday for a single game at 4:00 p.m. On Saturday, the Lakehawks will be back at The Hawks Nest for a double header at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.
SJRSC finished the 2024 season with a 42-25 record and a 17-13 conference record. The Vikings won the 2024 FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Championship before going on a historic postseason run to take third place at the NJCAA Championship.
St. Johns River State enters this weekend with a current overall record of 15-11 and a conference record of 3-3, tying with the Lakehawks for third place in conference standing.
So far, the Vikings have played Sun-Lakes Conference opponents, Palm Beach State College (PBSC) and Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ). SJRSC took two of three from PBSC while winning just one last weekend against FSCJ.
