Windham Named Region 8 Baseball Pitcher of the Week
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Baseball) – Lakehawk baseball's Max Windham named the Florida College System Athletic Association (FSCAA) / Region 8 Division II Baseball Pitcher of the Week for his performance in the week of Feb. 17-23. Windham earns the honor for the second time in his career at Lake-Sumter.
Last week, Windham's only appearance on the mound came against Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ) for the Sun-Lakes Conference opener.
Windham pitched a career-first complete-game in game one of the series. He allowed just one run to score on two hits while striking out six Manta Ray Batters.
For the season, Windham holds a 3-1 record on the mound in five appearances. In 28.2 innings pitched, he maintains a 3.14 ERA with 26 strikeouts.
Head Coach Rich Billings shared his thoughts on Windham's performance, "It was so great to see Max give us nine quality innings on Friday."
"He has faced a lot of adversity this last year coming back from a torn UCL. The success he has experienced this spring has been 100% earned.
"He is a great teammate and he adds so much more to our Lakehawk family. It is hard not to root for a guy like Max," said Coach Billings.
Lake-Sumter will continue conference play this weekend with 2024 Sun-Lakes Conference Champion Pasco-Hernando State College. Windham and the Lakehawks travel to New Port Richey, Fla. on Friday for a single game and will be back at The Hawks Nest on Saturday for a double header.
