Johnson and Villaman Sweep Region 8 Baseball Weekly Awards
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Baseball) – Lakehawk baseball's Jack Johnson and Ryan Villaman were named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Baseball Pitcher and Player of the Week for their performances in the week of Feb. 10-16.
Ryan Villaman – Player of the Week
Villaman went 7-for-12 for a .583 average in four games last week. He recorded six runs, three doubles, four RBIs, and three stolen bases reaching safely and scoring in every game.
Against St. Petersburg College, he went 3-for-6 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs. He followed with a 3-for-3 performance with a double and two RBIs versus CCBC Catonsville.
For the season, Villaman is batting .319 with a .529 on base percentage and a .404 slugging percentage. In 47 at bats, he has 15 hits with 12 RBIs and 13 walks.
Jack Johnson – Pitcher of the Week
In one appearance on the mound last week, Johnson posted a 1-0 record with a 0.00 ERA. He tossed 6.0 shutout innings in game two against CCBC Catonsville on Saturday.
Johnson allowed just two hits and two walks while fanning four.
For the season, Johnson holds a 3-1 record on the mound in four appearances. In 19.2 innings pitched, he maintains a 2.29 ERA with 17 strikeouts at a 1.07 WHIP.
