LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball hosted the A3 Academy on Monday afternoon. The Lakehawks fell to the Trojans 9-3.
The Trojans took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first and held it until the fourth when they extended their lead 4-0.
The Lakehawks put three runs on the board in the fourth and fifth after capitalizing on Trojan errors.
Still down by one, the Lakehawks were unable to find a way to score for the remainder of the game.
A3 Academy scored four in the ninth and added one more in the ninth to secure their win.
Andrew Merchant and Osjun Rivas both went 2-for-4 with one run scored.
Starting pitcher Chase Booth recorded the loss with 3.1 innings pitched. He allowed four runs, two earned, on four hits and one walk with two strikeouts.
With the loss to the Trojans, the Lakehawks move to a 4-4 record on the season.
