Lakehawk Baseball’s Rich Billings Appointed to Coach Florida League Prospect Team
LYNCHBURG, Va. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball's Rich Billings was selected by the Florida Collegiate Summer League (FCSL) as the head coach for the Florida League Prospect Team.
Coach Billings is in his 10th year as the head coach of the Leesburg Lightning within the FCSL. This week will be his fourth time as the head coach of the Florida League Prospect Team (2016, 2018, 2019).
The team will travel to Lynchburg, Va. to compete in the National Alliance of College Summer Baseball (NACSB) Prospect Games. This event, first organized in 2013, is designed to bring the top 25-30 baseball players from each league and provide the opportunity to showcase their talents in front of MLB clubs.
The Florida League is scheduled to play Valley League (Virginia) at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 25 and Southern Collegiate (North Carolina) at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 26.
The Florida League is the all-time wins leader since the first showcase in 2013 with a 10-3-3 record. Last summer, Florida recorded two wins on their trip, defeating Valley 9-5 and Southern 7-3.
