Texas A&M Pitching Coach, Former Lakehawk Max Weiner Competing for National Championship

OMAHA, Neb. (Baseball) – In his first season as the Texas A&M pitching coach, former Lakehawk right-handed pitcher Max Weiner (2016) is with the Aggies for the NCAA Division I Baseball College World Series Championship in Omaha, Neb. Texas A&M is set to play Florida tonight at 7:00 EDT for semifinal after the Gators' afternoon win to eliminate Kentucky.
With no losses in the tournament, the Aggies need just one win over the Gators to advance to the championship series this weekend.
Tonight's matchup marks the fifth meeting between Texas A&M and Florida this season. It is also their second meeting of the tournament after the Aggies' 3-2 win on Saturday putting the Gators into the loser's bracket.
Weiner's pitching staff boasts a 3.86 earned run average (ERA) for the 2024 season with an opponent batting average of just .235. The Aggies pitching staff leads the SEC in ERA and are third in the conference for strikeouts (666).
Weiner played one season with the Lakehawks in 2016 before transferring to Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Fla. to finish his collegiate baseball career.
After FIU, he spent several years in both the MiLB and MLB, as the pitching coordinator for the Cleveland Guardians (2017) and the Seattle Mariners (2018-2023).
