Lakehawk Baseball Defeats FSBE Academy

LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball hosted FSBE Academy on Wednesday for a single-game non-conference matchup. With 10 hits, the Lakehawks defeated the Bulldogs 9-2.

FSBE Academy took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first, the only runs they manufactured for the game.

In the bottom of the third, Luke Bentley, Matthew Dumas, and Jacob Delano loaded the bases before Ryan Jenkins came up with a double to score two. Tad Brooks followed with a triple to score Delano and Jenkins.

Brooks scored on a wild pitch giving the Lakehawks a 5-2 lead.

Lake-Sumter added two more runs to the board in the bottom of the fourth.

Delano hit a double to left to score Dumas from second. Jenkins came next with a single to left to score Delano.

Colby White led off the bottom of the eighth with a walk. White stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error from the catcher.

Eli Thurmond and Chris Palmi loaded the bases, each drawing walks. White and Thurmond scored by taking advantage of several Bulldog mistakes.

Ryan Jenkins went 2-for-4 with one walk, one run scored, and three RBIs. Delano went 3-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI.

Trey Clinton recorded the win on the mound with 5.0 innings pitched. He allowed two runs on four hits with eight strikeouts.

Bryan Burtoft, Rodney Sesler, and Cristian Montes pitched the last four innings. In a combined effort, the three allowed just one hit and two walks with no runs scored.

With the win over the Bulldogs, the Lakehawks improve to a 9-10-1 overall record.
