Lakehawk Baseball’s Brooks and Tracy Earn Region 8 Weekly Awards

Player of the Week HQ

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Baseball) – Lakehawk baseball's Tad Brooks and Robert Tracy were named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for their performances in the week of Feb. 19-25. This is Tracy's second honor of the season and Brooks' first.

Tad Brooks – Player of the Week

Last week, Brooks had a stellar offensive performance going 9-for-18 (.500) with five runs scored, one double, one homerun, and four RBIs.

His best game came against CCBC Catonsville where he went 3-for-5 with a homerun and three RBIs.

In their three-game series against Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), he went 4-for-9 recording at least one hit and scored one run in each game. Brooks also had four walks and two stolen bases in the series.

Head Coach Rich Billings shared his thoughts on Brooks' performance, "Tad is one of the most impactful players in our lineup.  He is constantly working at getting better both offensively and defensively and he has been a really exciting player to coach.

I am really proud of the progress he has made. He is extremely deserving," said Coach Billings

For the season, Brooks maintains a .338 batting average, a .425 on-base percentage, and a .471 slugging percentage. He has 23 hits, four doubles, one triple, and one homerun, 13 RBIs, and 10 walks.

Robert Tracy – Pitcher of the Week

Tracy earns his second Pitcher of the Week honor of the season, one of the first in program history to earn this honor more than once. In two appearances last week, Tracy posted a 1-0 record on the mound with a 0.00 ERA.

He tossed one scoreless inning in relief in the Lakehawks' 7-3 win over Eastern Florida State College.

In his second appearance of the week, Tracy recorded the win in extra innings on the mound in game two against FSCJ to clinch the series. He pitched five scoreless innings with five strikeouts.

"Rob has been our go-to guy out of the bullpen and he just continues to get better every time he pitches. He is throwing with so much confidence right now and the bulldog mentality that he brings to the mound with him gives our defense so much reassurance.

"Our whole team raises their energy level when they know Rob is coming in and it is really cool to see a pitcher provide that kind of spark," said Coach Billings.

For the season, Tracy is 2-0 with two saves on the mound. In 19.0 innings pitched, he has maintained a 1.42 ERA, only three earned runs scored, and 23 strikeouts.
