TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Baseball) – Lakehawk baseball sophomore Luke Bentley was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Baseball Player of the Week for his performance in the week of Feb. 12-18. In two games, Bentley batted .625 (5-for-8) with four runs scored, two doubles, one RBI, and one stolen base.
Bentley's best performance of the week came in Lake-Sumter's win over St. Petersburg. He went 5-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored, and an RBI.
Head Coach Rich Billings shared his thoughts on Bentley's achievement, "Luke is a kid that has worked really hard to get here. He brings constant energy and the thing I love most about him is that you would never know whether he went 0-for-4 or 4-for-4.
"I am so happy to see Luke have early success this spring. Nobody is more deserving," said Coach Billings.
For the season, Bentley is batting .378, with an on-base percentage of .439, and a slugging percentage of .514. He has 14 hits with five doubles, three RBIs, two walks, and seven runs scored.

Bentley and the Lakehawks will be back in action at The Hawks Nest on Wednesday, Feb. 21 against CCBC Catonsville at 2:00 p.m.
