Lakehawk Baseball Downed by Seminole State

LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball hosted Seminole State College (SSC) at The Hawks Nest on Friday afternoon. The Raiders and the Lakehawks went back and forth on the scoreboard for most of the game until the Raider offense rallied in the eighth and ninth innings, scoring 15 runs, to win 21-7.

The Lakehawks recorded 12 hits on seven runs. Ryan Jenkins went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, a walk and one run scored.

Tad Brooks went 3-for-5 with one run scored and Chris Palmi went 2-for-5 with one run scored. Jacob Delano, Andrew Merchant, Ryan Villaman, and Eli Thurmond each recorded hit each as well.

Seven Lakehawks pitchers saw the mound against the Raiders.

Tyler Toro was the starting pitcher with 4.2 innings pitched. Toro allowed just two runs on four hits and six walks with three strikeouts.

Gregory Bori recorded the loss with 1.0 inning pitched. He allowed five runs on two hits with three walks and one strikeout.

The Lakehawks move to a 1-4-1 record so far on the season. Lake-Sumter and Seminole State will face each other again this season on Friday, February 9 at Seminole State.

The Lakehawks will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. to play Daytona State College in a single-game matchup at 1:00 p.m.
