Lakehawk Baseball Places Two on Region 8 Gold Glove Team
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Baseball) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) announced the 2023 Division II All-FCSAA/All-NJCAA Region 8 team and Gold Glove Team on Wednesday afternoon. The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball team placed two on the Gold Glove Team.
On Monday the FCSAA announced the all-conference teams. The Lakehawks had two first team and three second team selections.

The 2023 Division II All-FCSAA/Region 8 Gold Glove Team was announced on Wednesday with the all-state team.
FCSAA Division II / Region 8 Gold Glove Team
Ryan Monaghan was selected as the Gold Glove Team shortstop. Monaghan became the everyday shortstop for the Lakehawks after a short stint at second base at the beginning of the 2023 season.
For the season, Monaghan has 64 putouts in 170 chances. He recorded just eight errors on the season for a .953 fielding percentage.
Offensively, Monaghan finished the 2023 season with a .305 batting average, a .402 on base percentage, and a .403 slugging percentage. He recorded 60 hits with four homeruns, 43 runs scored, 36 RBIs, 22 stolen bases and 24 walks.
Kendal Spencer was named a Gold Glove Team outfielder. In 138 total chances, Spencer had 136 putouts. He maintained a .986 fielding percentage with just two errors in 55 games played.
Spencer was an offensive leader for the Lakehawks with Monaghan. He finished the season with a .272 batting average, .440 on base percentage, and a .494 slugging percentage.
Spencer had 49 hits with 12 doubles, two triples and eight homeruns with 39 RBIs. He scored 45 runs, drew 48 walks, and stole 30 bases.
With his 48 walks, Spencer became the new single-season walk leader after their last conference series against Palm Beach State College.
