LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball team defeated Inspiration Academy Post-Grad 15-5 in a late game rally on Wednesday afternoon.

LSSC took a 2-0 lead in the first inning before Inspiration Academy went up 5-2 in the third inning. They maintained the lead until the sixth when the Lakehawks rallied to the end of the game.

Lake-Sumter added two in the sixth to tie it up then scored five back-to-back in the seventh and eighth to secure the 15-5 win.

Chris Palmi went 1-for-3 with three RBIs, one run scored, and a walk. Ryan Monaghan, Nate Tinder, and Matt Tinder also added a pair of RBIs each.

Starting pitcher Nathan Quinn threw five innings, allowing five runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts.

Anthony Griffith recorded the win on the mound with two innings pitched. He saw six and retired six straight batters with three strikeouts to improve to 2-1 on the season.  

Robert Tracy and Dannon Smith threw one inning each. Smith, in his first mound appearance of the season, struck out two batters.

The Lakehawks improved to 16-25 on the season headed into the weekend.
