Lakehawk Baseball Falls to Seminole State

SANFORD, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball fell to Seminole State College (SSC) on Monday afternoon in a single-game matchup.

Seminole State led the Lakehawks 4-0 up to the sixth inning. Kendal Spencer led the inning with a solo homerun to right field.

The Lakehawks added another in the eighth when Spencer blaster another solo homerun, his sixth of the season. Lake-Sumter trailed 2-4 after the top of the eight.

Luke Bentley started off the top of the ninth inning with a single and Carson Russell followed with a walk. Then, Matt Tinder laid down a bunt to move Bentley and Russell into scoring position.

Auston Chisenhall came up with a single up the middle to score two tying up the game at 4-4.

Unfortunately, the Raiders were able to walk-off the game in the bottom of the ninth. Seminole State defeated Lake-Sumter 5-4.

Nathan Quinn got the start pitching the first four innings, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk with six strikeouts. Anthony Griffith recorded the loss after pitching the back half of the matchup, allowing one run on one hit with seven strikeouts.

The Lakehawks moved to 14-22 on the season, Seminole State improved to 19-16.

Lakehawk baseball will host Florida State College at Jacksonville at 1:00 p.m. on Friday for the first of the three game Sun-Lakes Conference series. Live stream video and stats will be available to those who cannot attend.
