Lakehawk Baseball Swept by No. 16 Pasco-Hernando

LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball hosted Sun-Lakes Conference opponent No. 16 Pasco-Hernando State College on Friday afternoon for a double header to open the series. Then traveled to New Port Ritchey, Fla. on Sunday morning for the series conclusion.

Game One – Lake-Sumter 6, Pasco-Hernando 8

Game one was the closest of the three-game series with Pasco-Hernando scoring eight runs on 10 hits while Lake-Sumter scored six runs on seven hits.

Pasco-Hernando took a 6-0 lead after the first three innings. Lake-Sumter tied the game up in the sixth, but the Bobcats added two runs in the final two innings to secure the game one win.

Hunter Looper was 1-for-3 with two RBIs. Dannon Smith was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

Three Lakehawks pitched in game one. Max Windham threw four innings, Preston James threw one, and Robert Tracy closed the game out.

James recorded the loss moving to 1-3 on the season. James allowed one run, unearned, on two hits and two walks with one strikeout.

Game Two – Lake-Sumter 7, Pasco-Hernando 17

The Bobcats came out swinging again in game two scoring nine runs in the first two innings.

Pasco-Hernando held the Lakehawks to none until the fourth. Lake-Sumter scored three in the fourth and four in the fifth but it was not enough for the Bobcat offense.

Matt Tinder was 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Kendal Spencer was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.

Six Lakehawk pitchers saw the mound in game two. Anthony Griffith pitched two innings, allowing no runs with one hit and one strikeout.

Jake Dorn recorded the loss on the mound after pitching the first inning falling to 0-4 on the season. Dorn allowed five runs on five hits with six walks.

Game Three – Lake-Sumter 1, Pasco-Hernando 11

Pasco-Hernando secured the series sweep in game three after an 11-1 mercy rule victory.

Nate Tinder had the lone hit for the Lakehawks in the fourth inning with a single to center field. Spencer, Chris Palmi, and M. Tinder each reached base on walks.

Three Lakehawks saw the mound in game three. Sebastian Miller got the start, throwing two innings and Tracy and Jackson Raper each threw one inning.

Miller recorded the loss on the mound after allowing nine runs on eight hits with two walks. Miller moved to a 2-2 record on the mound for the season.
