Lakehawk Baseball Outhit by No. 1 CF

OCALA, Fla. (Baseball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball traveled to No. 1 College of Central Florida (CF) on Wednesday afternoon for a single game matchup. Behind nine hits, the Patriots took the 16-3 win over the Lakehawks.

CF opened the scoring floodgates right away and LSSC never managed to shut them after scoring three runs in the first, three in the second, two in the third, three in the fifth, and five in the sixth.

The Lakehawks put two up in the top of the fourth. Chris Palmi led off the inning with a walk and Nate Tinder launched his second homerun of the year to record two RBIs.

Lake-Sumter added one more run in the bottom of the sixth. With two runners on base, Levi Anderson doubled to left center scoring N. Tinder from second.

The Lakehawks used five pitchers in the game, with starting pitcher Preston James taking the loss. Preston pitched two innings, allowing six runs on five hits and one walk with one strikeout.

Four Lakehawks had hits on the day. N. Tinder went 2-for-2 with two RBIs, Luke Bentley, Dannon Smith, and Anderson recorded one hit each.  

CF improved to 21-1 on the season, while the Lakehawks move to 7-12.

Up next for the Lakehawks

The Lakehawks will travel to Avon Park, Fla. of Friday, March 3 at 1:00 p.m. for the first of the three-game conference series with South Florida State College. The Lakehawks will be back at The HawksNest Saturday for a double header with South Florida State at 12:00 and 3:00 p.m.
