Lakehawk Baseball’s Windham Named Region 8 Pitcher of the Week

 Player of the Week HQ

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Baseball) – Freshman right-handed pitcher Max Windham was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week of 2/6-2/12.

In two appearances and seven innings of work, Windham allowed just six hits, two earned runs, two walks while recording 13 strikeouts.

Windham recorded the win on the mound in Lake-Sumter's victory over Polk State on Saturday afternoon. In six innings, he retired 11 Eagle batters while allowing just two runs on six hits.

"Max had a fantastic week this week and he is becoming the guy we knew he was capable of being. I have been very impressed with his competitiveness and we know that every time he steps on the mound, he is going to give us a chance to win.

The best thing about Max is how he approaches his role with such a humble attitude. He is everything a Lakehawks should be and we are all very happy for him and his success he has had so far this spring," said head coach Rich Billings.

On the season, Windham is 2-0 with 13.0 innings pitched. He has maintained a 2.77 ERA with 25 strikeouts and just five walks. He is also currently leading Region 8 Division II baseball in strikeouts.
