LEESBURG, Fla. (Baseball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball team hosted Daytona State College for a single game on Wednesday afternoon. The Lakehawks fell to the Falcons for the second time in the week, 13-10.

The Lakeahawks took the lead 2-0 in the bottom of the first. Kendal Spencer reached on a single to center field and advanced to second on an overthrow by Daytona State's pitcher.

Ryan Monaghan singled to right field allowing Spencer to score and advanced all the way to third on an error by the right fielder. Hunter Looper followed with a single to center field to score Monaghan.

The Lakehawks added four more runs to the board in the bottom of the second. Luke Bentley led off with a single and a stolen base to put himself in scoring position for Matt Tinder.

M. Tinder delivered with a single up the middle. With two in scoring position, Monaghan launched a three-run homerun to left field to give the Lakehawks a 6-0 lead.

The Falcons were able to gain some ground in the third and fourth by scoring five. Then, Monaghan came up in the fifth with a solo homerun to left field extending the Lakehawk lead 7-5.

The Falcons tied the game up in the seventh after scoring two on two hits and then took control in the top of the eighth after scoring five runs on four hits to lead 12-7.

The Lakehawks chipped away scoring three more in the bottom of the eighth but it was not enough to take the lead back.
