Lakehawk Baseball Falls to HCC on Saturday

TAMPA, Fla. (Baseball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) baseball team traveled to Tampa, Fla. to play a single game against Hillsborough Community College (HCC) on Saturday afternoon. The Lakehawks fell to HCC 12-2, their record now 2-3 on the season so far.

HCC got on the board first in the second inning scoring one on one hit. They added five runs in the third, one in the fifth, three in the sixth, and two in the seventh.

The Lakehawks had baserunners on every inning but only managed to string together enough hits in the sixth inning to score. Ryan Monaghan started the short rally with a one-out single to left center field.

With two outs now, Nate Tinder had a single to center moving Monaghan two bases to third. Auston Chisenhall produced another single to score Monaghan.

Following Chisenhall, Luke Bentley also sent one up the middle to score Tinder.

The Lakehawks tallied nine hits on two runs scored. Monaghan, Chisenhall, and Bentley each went 2-for-4 on the day.

Six Lakehawk pitchers saw time on the mound. Starting pitcher Jordan Ackerman recorded the loss with 1.2 innings pitched.

Up next for the Lakehawks

The Lakehawks will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla. Monday afternoon to play Daytona State College at 2:00 p.m.
