Leesburg, Fla. – The Lake-Sumter State College baseball team has won their last 2 out of 3 contests while putting up double-digit runs.

It was a big bounce back game for the Lakehawks when they met up with Polk State College for the second time this season. The first game was a lopsided 17-2 loss, but redemption was on their minds heading into Friday's rematch.

After the Falcons had jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, the Lakehawks responded with a three-run bottom of the third with an additional run coming in the fourth. The big inning came in the sixth when LSSC brought four runners home to go up 8-2. They were not done yet, bringing in two more in the eighth. PSC fell short of their comeback attempt and the Lakehawks walked away with a 10-4 victory.

Alberson Mogollon hit his first home run of the season, driving in four RBI's on the day. Ryan Monaghan was 2 for 3 with two doubles in the game. He also added a run scored and a stolen base. Caden Kresak, Auston Chisenhall and Carson Russell all tallied multi-hit performances in the win. Colton Bruns earned his first victory of the year on the mound for the Lakehawks, going five innings with one earned run and eight strikeouts.

A road trip to St. Petersburg was the next game on the schedule. A 0-0 ball game opened up in the bottom of the sixth inning when the Titans managed four runs on three hits. The Lakehawks were held scoreless until the top of the ninth inning when their rally fell short after plating one run.

Ian Thornton was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI. Mogollon continued to swing a hot bat going 2 for 3 with a double and a triple while adding a walk and a run scored. Kresak tossed five solid innings and did not allow an earned run, but was tagged with the loss.

Monday's contest saw the Lakehawks host TNXL Academy in Leesburg. A fast-paced pitcher's duel started the game until LSSC broke through with one run in the fourth. Then, the flood gates opened up to the tune of 14 runs between the fifth and sixth innings. The pitching staff held their own and completed the shutout in the 15-0 victory.

Hunter Looper and Tim Kudlinski both left the yard for their first home runs of the year. Mogollon added three more RBI's to his season total after going 2 for 4. Ryan Brown moved his season record to 1-1 after going five innings and collecting 10 strikeouts. Anthony Griffith, Josh Scragg and Evan Loeser combined to throw the final four innings and allowed just one base running while striking out four.

The Lakehawks (4-6) will host South Florida State College (8-6) at 3 pm Wednesday. If you cannot make the game, feel free to watch online at www.lakehawksports.com.
