Lakehawks Looking to Stop Skid

Leesburg, Fla. –  The schedule has not been kind to the Lake-Sumter State College baseball team as of late, dropping 3 of their last 4 contests.

After taking down the No. 5 team in the nation, College of Central Florida, 8-7 in 10 innings, the Lakehawks have been on the short end of their last three games.

An early 2-0 lead by the Lakehawks over the Patriots turned into a 9-4 lead after seven innings. CF rallied in the bottom of the ninth for six runs and a walk-off, 10-9, victory. Ty Milliner had himself a game going 3 for 3 with a home run and three RBI's. Evan Badger added a double at the plate, driving in one run. Evan Loeser (2-2) was tagged with the loss.

Friday marked the opening game against Santa Fe College (17-8, 7-1). The Saints unloaded for eight runs on 17 hits for an 8-1 victory. Game two took place in Gainesville Saturday with the home team winning, 5-3.

Alberson Mogollon continues his solid year at the plate with 32 hits on the season and a .327 average while carrying an on-base percentage of .419. The Wildwood native has collected 12 doubles and four home runs, driving in a team high 33 RBI's. Chance Pollard ranks third in the state with 21 steals on the season.

LSSC (15-15, 5-6) will be back at it Monday and host Santa Fe for a 3 pm start.
