Avon Park, Fla. – If you like offense, then Wednesday night's contest between Lake-Sumter State College and South Florida State College was the game for you. The two teams combined for 23 runs with the Lakehawks coming out on top, 15-8.

Robbie Scott opened the game up with a single and the horses were out of the gate putting up five runs in the top of the first. A great way to get the game going if you were starting pitcher, Jake Janata. The freshman fed off the early lead tossing five innings of one run baseball, allowing just one walk while striking out five.

The bats didn't slow down for Lake-Sumter after the first inning with two runs on three hits in the second and then two more runs off four hits to take a 9-1 lead after three innings. The fourth and fifth innings were much of the same to the tune of six runs on seven hits giving the Lakehawks a grand total of 15 runs coming across home plate. It was up to the bullpen to take control from there.

Janata was removed after the fifth inning with a combination of Matt Cobb and Dean Niarchos shutting the door down the stretch in the final four innings. For Janata, it was his first win at the collegiate level bringing his record to 1-0 on the season.

Scott led the way for the hitters going 4 for 5 with one RBI and three runs scored. Through the first four games of the season, the sophomore infielder is hitting a massive .529 while carrying an .824 slugging percentage. Alan Alonso, Steven Beach and Colling Teegarden combined for nine hits, six RBIs and seven runs scored. Alonso also tagged his first home run of the season in the victory.

Next for the Lakehawks (2-2) will be Palm Beach State at home Friday. First pitch is slated for 2 pm.
