Doug Teegarden, a Kentucky native, joined the LSSC coaching staff in July of 2016. Teegarden is serving as the team’s infield/hitting coach. This will be his first year coaching after his graduation from Eastern Kentucky University in the spring of 2016.

Teegarden just recently finished a stellar playing career at EKU under the direction of Head Coach Edwin Thompson. While at EKU, Teegarden was a four-year starter while being named an All-American his freshman year and making the Ohio Valley Conference All-Freshman Team.  Teegarden started 180 games in his career and compiled a .280 career average and a .419 on base percentage. Teegarden’s best year was his senior year but was halted due to a knee injury. Teegarden was hitting .320 and was leading the country in walks before the injury.

Teegarden and Head Coach Rich Billings have history together. Billings was Teegarden’s coach for two summers in a row. The summer of 2014 was spent in Wilson, NC with the Wilson Tobs of the Coastal Plains League. During the summer of 2015, Teegarden played right here in Leesburg with the Leesburg Lightning of the Florida Collegiate League.

Teegarden graduated from Boone County High School in Florence, KY.

His responsibilities with LSSC include managing the infielders, assisting with recruiting, assisting in coordinating youth and high school camps, throwing BP, and coaching first base.
