HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (Beach Volleyball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) beach volleyball team travels to Huntsville, Ala. to compete in the 2024 NJCAA Beach Volleyball Championship at John Hunt Park. The Lakehawks enter the tournament as the second seed after receiving one of two Automatic Bids from Region 8.
Day one will consist of pool play. There are three pools with three teams each.
Lake-Sumter is in pool two with the number five seed Sandhills Community College and the number eight seeded Trinidad State College.
The Lakehawks' first match will be against Trinidad State College at 9:00 a.m. followed by Sandhills Community College at 3:15 p.m.
Trinidad State enters the tournament with a 1-10 record from the regular season. The Trojans' one win in the 2024 season came against Central Wyoming College at the Region IX Tournament.
Sandhills Community College enters the tournament with an 11-15 overall record from Region 10. The Flyers received the second automatic bid from Region 10 after a runner-up finish to Richard Bland College.
On day two, the teams will move into their Challenge Brackets. The results of day one will place the teams into three new pools to determine placement for the championship bracket on Saturday.
Championship Saturday will be a single elimination bracket where the teams will play for their chance at a national championship title.
For pool play and the Challenge Bracket, all matches simultaneously to completion. On the final day of the tournament, matches will be played to decision (first to three wins).
