TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Freshman Kaitlyn Duquette was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance in the week of Feb. 26 – Mar. 3, her second honor of the season. In three appearances last week, Duquette posted a 1-0, 2 saves record with just a 1.45 ERA.
On Tuesday against East Georgia State College, Duquette recorded a six-out save while striking out four.
Later in the week, she tossed a complete-game three-hitter against Sun-Lakes Conference opponent, Florida Gateway College. She allowed just two runs with two strikeouts.
In the series finale against Florida Gateway, Duquette recorded the final two outs to snag her second save of the week and help to secure the series sweep for the Lakehawks.
In 9.2 innings pitched, Duquette allowed just two earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out seven.
Head Coach Jay Miller shared his thoughts on Duquette's impressive performance from the mound last week, "I think this is a big step in Kaitlyn's progression as a college pitcher.
"Learning to start a collegiate game in the circle is one thing, but sitting for hours, rushing to the bullpen, and being handed the ball with a game on the line is another. She did it twice this week, on top of a complete-game win.
"She is becoming a big game pitcher and wants the ball in her hands. We are very proud of her," said Coach Miller.
For the season, Duquette has thrown 51.1 innings and posts a 4-4, 2 saves record on the mound. She maintains a 2.73 ERA with 38 strikeouts.
Duquette currently ranks third in the conference with strikeouts (38), fourth for strikeouts per seven innings (5.18), seventh for ERA (2.73), and ties for first with saves (2).

Duquette and the Lakehawks will be back in conference action this weekend against No. 18 St. Johns River State College.
