TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Sophomore Darian Pippin was named the National Junior College (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week for the final week of the regular season. Pippin earns the award for the fourth time this season.
Pippin threw the Lakehawks' only game of the week last week against St. Johns River State College. She tossed one of the best games of her career, a two-hit shutout with nine strikeouts.
The win over the Vikings secured Lakehawk softball's first-ever conference title and trip to the 2023 Region 8 tournament.
Pippin is currently 14-7 on the season while maintaining a 2.71 ERA with 97 strikeouts (5.26 K/7). She is second in the state for wins and strikeouts and top-five in ERA.
Most recently, Pippin was named to the All-Sun-Lakes Conference first team.
Up next for the Lakehawks
Pippin and the Lakehawks will travel to Clermont, Fla. for 2023 Region 8 Division II softball state tournament. Their first game of the weekend will be against the no. four seeded Pasco-Hernando State College on Thursday, May 4 at 12:00 p.m.
