TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Sophomore Ali Shenefield was named the National Junior College (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance between April 17-23. Shenefield earns the award for the fifth time this season.
In two appearances last week, Shenefield posted a 2-0 record on the mound with a 1.00 ERA. She threw 14.0 innings allowing just two runs on nine hits while striking out 20.
Shenefield recorded her first complete-game win of the week in game two against Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ). She allowed two runs one five hits while striking out a season-high of 12 Blue Wave batters.
Later in the week, in game two against South Florida State College, Shenefield tossed a complete-game shutout while fanning eight Panther batters.
Shenefield is currently 16-1 on the season while maintaining a 1.52 ERA with 121 strikeouts (8.39 K/7). In 101.0 innings pitched, she has allowed only 22 earned runs and walked just 14 batters.
Up next for the Lakehawks
Shenefield and the Lakehawks will travel to Sanford, Fla. for their final double header of the regular season against Seminole State on Friday April 28.
