TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Sophomore pitcher Ali Shenefield was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Pitcher of the Week for the second week in a row.
Shenefield coming off a historic week, stamped her name in the Lakehawk record books becoming the new single season win leader in program history. She recorded two wins over Pasco-Hernando for 13 on the year surpassing Melissa Webb (2014).
Shenefield pitched a complete eight inning game in game one against Pasco-Hernando and then entered to pitch the final two innings in game two of the double header.
In game one, she shutout the Bobcats in eight innings giving up just four hits while striking out nine. In game two, she struck out two more Bobcat batters to seal the win in relief.
For the season, Shenefield is 13-0 with a pair of saves. She has 95 strikeouts on the year, currently sitting at fourth in the single season strikeout category.
Shenefield has maintained a 1.11 ERA in 75 innings pitched and is currently leading the conference in ERA, wins, and strikeouts.
Up next for the Lakehawks
Shenefield and the Lakehawks will host South Florida State College on Saturday, Apr. 1 for a Sun-Lakes Conference double header at 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.
