Lakehawk Softball Splits with Trinity Baptist College

LEESBURG, Fla. (Softball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) softball split a double header with Trinity Baptist College on Thursday afternoon. The Lakehawks took game one 10-0 and fell to the Eagles 3-6 in game two.

Game One – Lake-Sumter 10, Trinity Baptist College 0

The Lakehawks defeated Trinity Baptist mercy rule fashion in game one 10-0 with 11 hits.

Lake-Sumter came out swinging batting through the entire lineup the first two innings, scoring three runs in the first, six in the second and one in the third to move into mercy rule territory.

Desiree Romeo was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, two runs scored and a walk. Darian Pippin was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and a run scored.

Pippin earned the win on the mound improving to 9-3 on the season. With the win, she became the winningest pitcher in program history with 20 for her career, surpassing Jasmine McQuaig who had 19 in 2017-18.

Pippin threw four innings allowing just two hits and no runs with six strikeouts. At 134 strikeouts now for her career, she moves to third all-time after Jasmine McQuaig (135) and Melissa Webb (163).

Game Two – Lake-Sumter 3, Trinity Baptist College 6

Trinity Baptist pulled off an upset in game two outhitting Lake-Sumter nine hits to eight while capitalizing on three Lakehawk errors.

Alexis Adams was 1-for-4 with RBIs and a run scored, her one hit being her third homerun of the season.

Freshman Kayley Williams recorded the loss with three innings pitched. Williams allowed three runs on five hits with two strikeouts.

Elizabeth Auciello entered in relief for Williams, throwing four innings allowing three runs on four hits with four strikeouts.

The Lakehawks are now 28-12 on the season after the split with Trinity Baptist.

The Lakehawks will host Sun-Lakes Conference opponent Florida State College at Jacksonville on Tuesday, March 28 at 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. Live stream video will be available to those who cannot attend.
