TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – Lakehawks softball keeps the conference award streak going with sophomore catcher Kreighton Steinke. Steinke was named the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Softball Player of the Week for the week of 2/6-2/12.

Steinke led the Lakehawks last week going 6-for-ll with two stolen bases.

Of four games played, Steinke had three multi-hit games. She went 2-for-4 and 2-for-3 against St. Petersburg College and then went 2-for-2 against Seminole State.

"Kreighton started coming to our camps when she was a sophomore in high school and we have been able to see her continually grow every year.

They year has been her best yet and receiving this award puts an exclamation point on her development," said head coach Jay Miller.

The Umatilla, Fla. native currently leads Region 8 Division II softball in batting average (.519) and on-base percentage (.536). She has 14 singles on the season with three RBIs, two runs scored, and three stolen bases.

Steinke and the Lakehawks will travel down to Tampa, Fla. on Friday, February 17 for a double header against Hillsborough Community College.
