Beatty Named Region 8 Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Softball) – The Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) announced the weekly awards for Aug. 18-24. Samantha Beatty was named the Offensive Player of the Week.
Beatty earns this honor for the first time in her career. It also is the first Player of the Week honor under Head Coach Alisha Wintersdorf.
Last week, the Leesburg, Fla. native introduced herself as a force to reckoned with recording 68 kills and 62 digs. She posted double-doubles in all four matches averaging 4.53 kills per set and 4.13 digs per set.
Beatty added five blocks, nine assists, and 14 aces.
"Sammi is the kind of teammate everyone wants on their side. She was voted captain after preseason because of her leadership, work ethic, and ability to elevate the people around her."
"She has already made an immediate impact recording 68 kills and 62 digs over the weekend, and we are excited to see what she will accomplish this season," said Coach Wintersdorf.
To cap the weekend, Beatty led the conference in kills per set.
Beatty and the Lakehawks go on the road tonight to face non-conference foe Santa Fe at 6:00 p.m. The game will be available to watch via livestream here.
