Lakehawk Volleyball’s 2025 Schedule Revealed
LEESBURG, Fla. (Volleyball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) volleyball team has revealed their schedule for the 2025 regular season. The Lakehawks have a 28-match schedule, with 12 home matches.
The Lakehawks finished the 2024 season with a 9-12 record and 3-11 in Sun-Lakes Conference play. The Lakehawks placed two on all-conference teams and finished sixth regular season standing.
The Lakehawks will open the season in Wilmington, N.C. for a four-match tournament at Cape Fear Community College.
On Thursday, Aug. 22, Lake-Sumter will play No. 16 Walters State and the College of Southern Maryland. Saturday's matches will be against Montgomery College and Cape Fear Community College.
After the first weekend of tournament play, Lake-Sumter's regular season is comprised of 20-match conference slate with room for four more nonconference games.
The Lakehawks' home opener and conference opener on Wednesday, Sept. 3 against South Florida State College followed by Palm Beach State on Friday, Sept. 5 and Indian River State College on Saturday, Sept. 6.
The top-four teams after the regular season will earn a spot in the 2025 Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Division II Championship, which will be hosted at Indian River State College in Fort Pierce, Fla. in November.
Head Coach Alisha Wintersdorf, entering her second season with the Lakehawks, shared her thoughts, "We are excited for a season of new beginnings with 12 freshmen ready to step in and compete at a high level."
"Led by sophomore Anna Evans and transfer Emma Van Deusen, this group has the talent, energy, and determination to make an immediate impact. Together we are building a foundation that will set the tone for the future of our program."
Evans, a middle blocker from Reno, Nev., brings the most experience from last year's team with playing time in 45 sets across 15 matches. Evans recorded 98 kills with 61 digs, 18 aces, and 15 total blocks.
Van Deusen joins the indoor team after playing her freshman season at St. Johns River State College. In 2024, she finished fourth in the conference for kills (298) and was named All-Sun-Lakes Conference First Team and to the All-FCSAA team as an outside hitter.
Van Deusen was also a member of the 2024 national contending Lakeahawk Beach Volleyball team in the spring of 2025 after transferring to Lake-Sumter in January.
