Lakehawk Volleyball Concludes 2023 Season at District Championship
Lake-Sumter fell to SCF 3-0 in the first round of the tournament
LAKE WORTH, Fla. (Volleyball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) volleyball team traveled to Lake Worth, Fla. over the weekend for the 2023 Florida College System Activities Association (FCSAA) Division II Volleyball Championship. The Lakehawks fell to State College of Florida (SCF) in the first round of the championship 3-0.
All-FCSAA/All-Region 8 sophomore Kaylee Hunt recorded 18 kills with nine digs and two aces for a .359 hitting percentage on the match. All-Sun-Lakes Conference sophomore Yarelis Lopez Osorio recorded seven kills with 11 digs for the match.
Additionally, Jayden Ponsford recorded 18 digs and Saniaa Dickey had eight. Mariana Comartin and Cecilia Calton added five kills each.
The Lakehawks completed finished the 2023 season with a 15-12 overall record and 7-6 in conference play.
Hunt finished in the top-10 in the following statistical categories for Region 8 Division II volleyball: second in kills (313), third in kills per set (3.29), third in points (376.0), fourth in points per set (3.9), seventh in digs (317), and tenth in digs per set (3.34).
Osorio also finished in the top-10 in several stat categories: fifth in digs (351), sixth in digs per set (3.66), seventh for kills (248), seventh in points (282.5), and ninth in kills per set (2.58).
Freshman setter Emily Warner also made top-10 in a few stat categories as well: second in assists (571), third in assists per set (6.34), and ninth in aces (36).
