TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Volleyball) – Lakehawk volleyball's Kaylee Hunt and Jayden Ponsford were named the National Junior College (NJCAA) Region 8 Division II Volleyball Players of the Week for performance from Oct. 9 - 15. Hunt receives this honor for the third time while Ponsford earns the first of her career.
Kaylee Hunt – Player of the Week
In three Sun-Lakes Conference matches last week, Hunt averaged 4.0 kills and 3.2 digs per set in 13 sets played. She recorded three-straight double-doubles, two of those being against ranked opponents.
In the Lakehawks' first win of the week against Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ), Hunt recorded her first double-double of the week with 14 kills and 16 digs. She added one block and one ace.
Against No. 18 Gulf Coast State College, Hunt posted 18 kills and 15 digs with five blocks. The next day against No. 8 Pensacola State College, she recorded 20 kills and 11 digs.
In Region 8 Division II, Hunt currently ranks in the top-10 for several stat categories. She sits second for kills (255), third for points (295.5), fourth for points per set (3.6), fifth for kills per set (3.15), eighth for digs (263), and tenth for digs per set (3.25).
Jayden Ponsford – Defensive Player of the Week
Ponsford earns the Defensive Player of the Week honor for the first time in her career after recorded 5.5 digs per set in 13 sets played last week.
Against FSCJ, Ponsford posted 19 kills with an ace. Ponsford followed later in the week with a pair of 26-dig matches against Gulf Coast and Pensacola State.
Ponsford has been named to the Region 8 25-Dig Club three times so far this season.
For the season, Ponsford currently ranks fifth for digs (277) and eighth for digs per set (3.60).

Hunt, Ponsford, and the Lakehawks will travel to Palatka, Fla. for the Viking Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
