LEESBURG, Fla. (Volleyball) – The Lake-Sumter State College (LSSC) volleyball team hosted Hillsborough Community College (HCC) on Friday, meeting up with the Lady Hawks for the second time this season. The Lakehawks defeated HCC 3-2 (26-25, 24-26, 25-21, 20-25, 15-10).

Sophomores Yarelis Lopez Osorio and Kaylee Hunt led the Lakehawk offense with 16 kills each. Lopez added three service aces and 22 whiles while Hunt had 16 digs.

Katelyn Johnson added seven kills with Mariana Comartin's eight.

Saniaa Dickey posted 14 digs with four assists with Jayden Ponsford's 10 digs and four kills.

Freshman setter Emily Warner recorded 32 assists with 12 digs in the five-set win.

Lake-Sumter improves to a 5-3 record on the season, while HCC moves to 6-4 overall.

The Lakehawks will open Sun-Lakes Conference play at home against Florida State College at Jacksonville on Wednesday, Sept. 6 at 6:00 p.m. Livestream video will be available to those who cannot attend.
