Leesburg, Fla. – Ladies and gentlemen, the calendar has turned it is now August 1. We all know what that means. Volleyball is on campus and gearing up for the regular season!
The players hit the court for the first time this morning and with that, the countdown has begun. It will be a quick preseason with just 20 days before the opening tri-match against Hillsborough Community College and Montgomery College (MD) on August 20.
Lake-Sumter will be hosting a tournament Friday August 26 and Saturday August 27. LSSC will take on Cape Fear Community College (NC) on Friday. Saturday, the team will be hosting Cowley County Community College (KS) in the morning before finishing the invitational against Enterprise State Community College (AL).
The Lakehawk Invitational will be the final tune-up for the team before opening up NJCAA DII Sun-Lakes Conference play. September 1 marks Opening Night for the conference and will have the Lakehawks taking on Palm Beach State College in Leesburg at 6 pm. Sun-Lakes play will continue into October and finish on the 15th against Pensacola State College in the panhandle.
A couple special dates to mark on your calendars include; Sophomore Night, which will be held Saturday, October 8 against Florida State College at Jacksonville. Tuesday, October 11 will be the Pink Game where all fans are encouraged to wear pink. The Lakehawks will host St. John's River State College that night.
The regular season will conclude on the road at the SJRSC Viking Invitational in Palatka, Fla, October 22 and 23. LSSC will take on Spartanburg Methodist (SC), Lurleen B. Wallace Community College (AL) and Monroe College (NY) over the two-day event.
