Eagles Best Lakehawks in Winter Haven

Eagles Best Lakehawks in Winter Haven

Winter Haven, Fla. – It was the toughest opponent yet for the Lake-Sumter State College volleyball team who fell in three sets to Polk State Tuesday night.

It was another road game for the Lakehawks, but this time against the NJCAA DI pre-season No. 7 team in the country. The Eagles went 23-8 in 2018 on their way to a seventh place finish at the National Tournament.

Tuesday night, Polk State showed why they were a top 10 team in the nation with three straight set victories to win the match (25-15, 25-18, 25-16). Talyn Allard led the way with eight kills while Hannah Yarbrough was able to collect 12 digs. Star Lakin dished out 17 assists on the night.

The team will get a break this weekend and be able to reset heading into their home opener next week. Lake-Sumter will host the College of Central Florida Tuesday night at 6 pm. The Patriots are currently 5-1 on the season.
