Chloe Gives Us Journal Entry No. 2

Hickory, NC – Games do not start until Friday, which means the Lake-Sumter State College volleyball team had a full day off after traveling. Chloe Campbell gives us her second journal entry from the road.

"Welcome back! Today I got up at 8:30 and woke the rest of my roommates up like it was Christmas morning. My room consists of Amanda Berecz, Talyn Allard, and Casey James. We headed down to breakfast where we all grubbed on some waffles and bananas. It was going to be a busy day, so I knew we would need our energy.

After breakfast we had a few minutes to get ready, then we had to be back down stairs at 10 am for an hour of study hall. Even though we are on this trip, academics come before everything else. Once study hall came to an end we gathered in the vans to head to lunch. We went to a sandwich place called Which Wich. I'd never been there, but It was a really good.

After pounding a few sandwiches, we headed to practice at Coach Matulia's old high school. Hickory High School, home of the Red Tornadoes. After a full day of traveling, practice was a welcomed normal routine for us. We focused on specifics for the upcoming tournament and did a few drills then ended. The point of the practice was to get in a few touches so we wouldn't go into Friday and Saturday rusty.

We wandered back to the hotel where we all ran to shower and laid down before we headed out to dinner. We are all used to being typical athletes and eating just after practice, all sweaty and exhausted. This dinner was different. The team got to dress up all nice and fancy and everyone was really excited about it. For once we got to take pictures where we didn't look tired and warn out.

So, at 5:30 we all got up out of bed and began to put make-up on and do our hair. I had Hailey Franklin do my make-up and she did amazing I might add. Once we were all ready, we headed to Old hickory station for dinner. Their food was super good and their dessert was even better. It was a great time and we were all able to take pictures and just hang out.

After dinner we got back to the hotel and called it a night. All and all it was a good day with a lot of good food and good moments. Games start tomorrow! Time to rest. Goodnight everyone"
