Incoming Freshman Already Making Community Impact

Incoming Freshman Already Making Community Impact

Mt. Dora, Fla. - Mount Dora High School graduate, Rachel Clark signed a national letter of intent to play volleyball at Lake-Sumter State College last year. One of the keys to success for LSSC athletes is to have an impact on our community here in Lake and Sumter counties. Clark has started early and set the tone for her teammates to get out in the community and make a difference.

Starting back in elementary school, Clark has enjoyed volunteering and helping others. In 2008, she received the President's Volunteer Service Award in conjunction with the hours she put in working with the Lake County recycling program. Her dedication continues to this day and hits even closer to her new home as she recently planted 50 cypress trees around our campus here at Lake-Sumter.

Because of her hard work, Rachel has been named the Outstanding Youth Champion Award by Keep Florida Beautiful. The award is given to a young individual who demonstrates leadership in litter prevention, recycling and keeping everything beautiful. "Volunteering is rewarding and fun," said Clark. "I think everyone has what it takes to make a difference in the world."
